I am completing this review to receive a free credit from audibooks.com for a free credit. I have used this service and Audible, to similar satisfaction.
Both this and Audible offer a free book to trial them. Both interfaces are intuitive. Both applications have an excellent catalog that is reasonably (but not discounted) for pricing. I have been happy with the quality of the products on both, listening to the same narrator for two different books in the same series.
Audiobooks had a better ability to deal with interrupted downloads. Audible would require the book to be redownloaded each time until it was fully loaded, causing my space in the book to be reloaded. Audible also had more issues interacting with Bluetooth or headphones when another app was running, such as a map app. The audio would occasionally just drop out and I would have to reinsert the headphone jack.
Audible was better than audiobooks for being transparent that book ownership remained mine regardless if I kept my subscription. This may be the case for Audiobooks.com, but is unclear.
Both services could be improved by allowing us to share the books we OWN. Otherwise, the book may as well be single use and cost should be substantially reduced. Also, allowing us to stream our books, rather than download them, would be a huge service to those of us with more limited space on our devices or use multiple devices.
